Cellar Keeper Skill Upgrade Planner
Follow this priority list when spending skill points in Cozy Mode.
In Cozy Mode, Cellar Keeper rewards finished shelves with skill points you spend on seven abilities: Spot Matches, Batch Grab, Quick Order, Target Hint, Auto Place, Sprint, and Jump. Cooldowns gate how often you can activate each skill, but every skill supports five cooldown or potency upgrades — five purchases that shorten waits or improve the effect. This static planner tells you what to buy first so your early hours feel faster without wasting points on mobility luxuries before search tools come online.
Nothing here reads your save; treat the checklist as a session companion. Mark items mentally (or on paper) as you buy them. For skill descriptions and tier labels, see Skills Hub and Skills Tier List.
Priority summary
| Priority tier | Skills | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 1 — Essential | Spot Matches, Batch Grab | Find and collect matching bottles anywhere in the cellar |
| 2 — Quality of life | Quick Order, Target Hint, Auto Place | Speed placement and reduce mis-shelf mistakes |
| 3 — Last | Sprint, Jump | Shave walk time after search tools are strong |
Upgrade order checklist
Work top to bottom. Complete all five levels of a row before jumping to optional tiers unless noted.
Tier 1 — Essential (do these first)
- Spot Matches — level 1 cooldown upgrade
- Spot Matches — level 2 cooldown upgrade
- Batch Grab — level 1 cooldown upgrade
- Spot Matches — level 3 cooldown upgrade
- Batch Grab — level 2 cooldown upgrade
- Spot Matches — level 4 cooldown upgrade
- Batch Grab — level 3 cooldown upgrade
- Spot Matches — level 5 cooldown upgrade (max)
- Batch Grab — level 4 cooldown upgrade
- Batch Grab — level 5 cooldown upgrade (max)
Why this order: Spot Matches at level 1 immediately reduces hunt time. Alternate Batch Grab levels because grab strength scales with how many bottles each activation pulls — early Batch Grab levels often beat a fifth Spot Matches level for raw throughput on small series shelves.
Tier 2 — Quality of life (after Tier 1 maxed)
- Quick Order — levels 1–5 (cooldown upgrades)
- Target Hint — levels 1–5
- Auto Place — levels 1–5
Buy Quick Order before Target Hint if you frequently place bottles out of series order. Auto Place is wonderful but less critical while you still misread labels — fix map knowledge first via Symbol Legend.
Tier 3 — Mobility last
- Sprint — levels 1–5
- Jump — levels 1–5
Sprint and Jump only shorten travel. They cannot fix wrong cabinets. By the time Tier 1 is maxed, you already walk less because bottles come to you.
Cooldown rules reminder
Every activatable skill enters cooldown after use. Each of the five upgrades per skill reduces that cooldown (or improves Batch Grab pull count / Spot Matches highlight duration depending on the skill). Plan bursts: activate Spot Matches, grab matches with Batch Grab, place during downtime, repeat.
Some players restart the client to refresh cooldowns between heavy sorting pushes. The game does not document that behaviour; use it only if it fits your play style.
Skill point income tips
Skill points arrive when you complete shelves — especially small series racks that finish quickly. If upgrades feel slow, read How to Prioritize Skills and focus on clearing 3/3 or 4/4 sets before sprawling mixed piles.
Carry up to ten bottles but avoid mixing brands in one trip; the left-side carry list helps track loads for Juggling Act achievement hunters.
Sample mid-game build (after ~10 hours)
| Skill | Target level | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Spot Matches | 5 / 5 | Max — constant highlights |
| Batch Grab | 5 / 5 | Max — multi-bottle pulls |
| Quick Order | 3 / 5 | Mid — optional pause here for map grinding |
| Target Hint | 2 / 5 | Early |
| Auto Place | 1 / 5 | Early |
| Sprint | 0 / 5 | Not yet |
| Jump | 0 / 5 | Not yet |
Adjust if you play without misplacement issues — skip Target Hint sooner and rush Auto Place.
Speedrun and Hardcore notes
Speedrun Mode disables all upgrades. Use this planner during your Cozy run, then rely on muscle memory when you attempt Master Organizer via Speedrun. Hardcore Mode keeps upgrades but punishes drops; mobility skills matter slightly more if you play reckless — still buy them last.
When to stop upgrading
Once Spot Matches and Batch Grab hit five of five, diminishing returns shift toward finishing the cellar. Pour remaining points into Quick Order and Auto Place, then stop chasing perfect cooldowns if you are already clearing faster than new bottles spawn on the floor (they do not — but you get the idea). Save Sprint/Jump unless you enjoy movement tech.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
What should I upgrade first in Cellar Keeper?
Max Spot Matches and Batch Grab before other skills. Alternate early levels between them, then pick up Quick Order, Target Hint, and Auto Place before Sprint or Jump.
How many times can each skill be upgraded?
Every skill supports five upgrades that reduce cooldowns or improve effects. Batch Grab upgrades increase how many bottles each grab pulls.
Does this planner work in Speedrun Mode?
No. Speedrun disables skills entirely. Use this page during Cozy Mode, then apply routing knowledge in Speedrun for achievements and leaderboards.
Are Sprint and Jump worth buying?
They help movement but do not fix sorting mistakes. Buy them after search and placement skills unless you specifically want faster walking for fun.
