Cellar Keeper No Shortcuts Guide
The Speedrun Mode trophy — and the only achievement that requires a separate mode clear.
No Shortcuts is Cellar Keeper’s Speedrun Mode achievement. Steam lists the requirement plainly: Complete Speedrun Mode. That means finishing the full 2,448-bottle cellar under rules that disable all seven Cozy skill upgrades — no Spot Matches glow, no Batch Grab vacuum, no Auto Place safety net. Leaderboard time is optional; the trophy cares that you finish cleanly in Speedrun, not that you top the global chart.
Do not confuse No Shortcuts with Master Organizer, which tracks 200 completed racks and unlocks naturally during Cozy play. No Shortcuts is the separate branch you begin after you understand the map — ideally after Perfect Order in Cozy Mode.

Prerequisites
- You earned Perfect Order or can complete every rack without skill crutches (Perfect Order guide).
- You memorise wine type → map symbol routing (Cabinet Symbols).
- You understand brand shelf claims (Types and Brands).
- You accept ten-bottle carries as your only “Batch Grab.”
Hardcore Mode with breakage risk is not a substitute. Stay in Speedrun until the cellar is fully restored.
Why Speedrun is its own achievement branch
Cozy Mode lets you unlock Spot Matches, Batch Grab, Quick Order, Target Hint, Auto Place, Sprint, and Jump — each five levels deep. Those tools compress hours of walking. Speedrun strips them to test raw label literacy and routing discipline.
Repeating rack cleanup in Cozy after Perfect Order does not satisfy No Shortcuts. You must start (or continue) a Speedrun Mode run and finish the cellar there.
Prep checklist while still in Cozy
- Map at least one full wing’s cabinet symbols by heart.
- Practice ten-bottle hauls to a single destination rack without mixing brands.
- Note which series lengths (
n/N) appear most often in your trouble zones. - Run Find Misplaced Bottles audits so hidden gray errors do not appear mid-Speedrun.
- Do one disposable Speedrun attempt to learn where you waste minutes.
Speedrun execution tips
Routing. Loop cabinet clusters instead of zigzagging across wings. Finish an entire cabinet before walking away. Floor bottles destined for another wing stay on the floor until that wing’s turn.
Carry discipline. Fill all ten slots only when every bottle shares one destination. Random pickups “because they are nearby” inflate backtracking.
Feedback. Yellow flash means lock and move on. Gray flash means fix immediately — without Auto Place, one wrong slot can cascade into a long audit.
Map usage. Open the central map to stay oriented, not so often that you idle. Keyboard players may prefer mouse panning — see Keyboard and Mouse.
Pacing. First clean Speedrun clears often take multiple hours. Pause for breaks; fix gray flashes the moment they appear.
Common failure points without upgrades
Without Spot Matches, you visually scan floors for matching labels. Without Batch Grab, every pickup is manual. Without Target Hint, wrong-wing walks cost real time. Without Auto Place, high-shelf precision matters.
Series order still rules: correct wine type and brand on the wrong 3/9 slot still gray-flashes. Review Series Numbers before a serious run.
Relationship to other trophies
Most keepers unlock rack-count trophies (First Rack through Keeper of the Cellar) and Peak Efficiency during Cozy. Perfect Order marks narrative completion. No Shortcuts is typically the last trophy if you want 100% — enter Speedrun only when map literacy replaces skill assistance.
Juggling Act (hold ten bottles) is easier in Cozy with Batch Grab upgrades; you can finish it before or after Speedrun. Order is flexible except that No Shortcuts must be a Speedrun clear.
After you unlock No Shortcuts
- Confirm the unlock synced in Steam overlay.
- Optionally push a cleaner leaderboard time.
- Return to Cozy for relaxed sorting or Hardcore Mode experiments.
- Watch Roadmap for future cellars.
